When I first started out, I had no real mentorship in exotics. I was expected to figure it out on the fly, to “just make it work,” even when I felt completely unprepared. That kind of pressure adds up. And for me, it eventually led to deep burnout and a level of dissatisfaction that made me question whether I even belonged in this profession.
Then came my autoimmune diagnosis. I didn’t have to follow the traditional path. I didn’t have to grind myself into the ground. I didn’t have to pretend I was okay when I wasn’t. I could choose something different - something more aligned, more fulfilling, more me.
